Hi Everyone, I am a newlywed and have always loved to cook, bake, and entertain. Lately I decided to start making cakes and now I can't stop; whether its cakes, cupcakes, cake truffles, etc!! I just love everything about them... the creativity, versatility, and the love that they bring to those who eat them.

Nautical Themed Baby Shower Cake & Cupcakes!

This baby shower party was for my twin sister's 2nd baby, Noah Reed Lichtenberg.
I know you are only supposed to throw showers for the first baby, but since she was having a boy this time, we felt it was appropriate (and a great excuse for a party)!!
I couldn't decide whether to make a cake or cupcakes for this baby shower so I decided to get my dad (who is amazing at building things) to make me a cake / cupcake stand! This way we could have a cake AND cupcakes..... how PERFECT!
So to match the nautical theme, I decided to make a sail boat for the cake, and then using fondant I made little ducky’s sitting on life preserver rings and baby booties..  (They took FOREVER to finish, but they were worth it!)   I just love the way they all turned out.

The handy man himself...  (Thanks again dad!)

And here are just a few pictures of other decorations we had for the party....

Aren't these little onesie rice krispy treats just adorable???

Lady Bug 1st Birthday Cake

Happy 1st Birthday Abigail.

This was such a fun party and my sister-in-law did such a great job with all the Lady Bug decorations. She even made each of the girls Lady Bug headbands that had antennas on them. How creative!
This cake turned out so cute! It is a vanilla and chocolate layered cake covered with buttercream icing and fondant accents. The Lady Bug was Abigail’s smash cake. It was a vanilla cake covered in buttercream icing and topped off with fondant. We didn’t want Abigail to eat a bunch of red dye so we decided to cover the smash cake in red fondant and have white icing underneath. So when she was ready to SMASH, we pulled the fondant off the back of the lady bug and boy did she DIG IN!!! It was sooo funny… I have never seen a one year old eat so much cake in my entire life. She literally picked up the entire cake and tried to eat it. She ate the WHOLE thing (well probably only about half of it actually made it in her mouth and the rest in her lap-lol) but boy did she LOVE it! She just kept eating and eating…. Way to go Abby.

Here’s the birthday girl..
